Rugile Augustaityte is a journalism student in Vilnius University from Vilkaviskis, Lithuania.
As a journalist, she is not well-known, because Rugile is a freshman in this sphere. The reason why she wants to become a proffesional journalist is not simple and definite. The main reason is the feeling of taking an important part in others’ lives and helping them by publishing their personal stories. In other words, Rugile thinks that every aggrieved creature should be understood and defended.
Her journalism path started a few years ago when she was studying at Vilkaviskis “Ausra” high school. The idea to study journalism came after her first interview, which was shocking. It took five hours to carry off the old woman story about exile. The story was about her painful life ruined by Soviet deportation from Lithuania to Siberia during the Second World War. Despite Rugile’s barely perceptible awkwardness during the interview, she understood that stories like that one inspire and make her feel happy. Consequently, she wants to become a war correspondent.
Despite her big dream of being a part of war, she is also interested in animals’ lives. Rugile is constantly filling various petitions againts animal torture, protesting againts cruelty. So being a journalist would help her to protect animals and their freedom.
