She started her journalist career in 2012 when she interned at WDBJ television. She worked as a general assignment news reporter until 2014. After that, Alison was hired by WDBJ as a correspondent for “Mornin' show “ for few months until the shooting day.
The day Alison Parker died started in the usual way. She had an interview with local chamber of commerce official Vicki Gardner, executive director of the local chamber of commerce, on August 26, 2015. She was enthusiastic and witty as always, brightened people’s mornings, when unexpectedly seven shots rang out. It left Parker and the cameraman both death. According to Quartz, the murder happened at the shopping mall during their live TV broadcast. The gunman, identified by police was known as Bryce Williams. He posted video online showing him filming the news crew and pointing a gun at them, and then opening fire. His Twitter and Facebook accounts have been suspended and later Bryce Williams shot himself and died at the hospital on a Virginia interstate after being pursued by police.

He also claimed of racial discrimination by WDBJ, specifically naming Parker and Ward. His anger turned to violence and he decided to make revenge on Parker.
Alison was only 24 years old. She loved her family, her boyfriend and she died doing the job she loved. Her death left a deep wound for her family. Her mother remember the feeling when the police called and said that their beautiful daughter, Alison Parker, was dead.
